Martha’s Vineyard Very Light Jets

Very light jets are the smallest jet cabin most Martha’s Vineyard clients will consider, and they suit the short business run where two or three people need to be somewhere and back inside a day.

Very Light Jets We Arrange from Martha’s Vineyard

Every aircraft in this category has its own page with cabin, range, seating and a charter pricing reference. 8 are listed below.

When Very Light Jets Fit the Martha’s Vineyard Trip

Below nine passenger seats these stay outside the airport’s twenty-four hour notice rule, which is worth knowing if your dates are still moving. Boston, New York and Philadelphia all sit comfortably inside the range; past that a light jet usually becomes the better answer.

The runway required on the day is a performance calculation the operator makes for that aircraft, at that weight, in the conditions on your date, so we confirm it with them for your specific trip rather than working from a general figure.

Vetting Behind Every Trip

Every operator, aircraft, and crew goes through our internal due diligence before we present any options. Our internal standards meet or exceed what the FAA requires:

  • FAR Part 135 charter operators for traditional private aircraft, or FAR Part 121 for airliner-size and group trips (or the foreign equivalent on international legs)
  • Operator subscription to Wyvern and ARGUS reviewed where the operator participates; reports may be provided on request.
  • Pilot experience and operator incident history reviewed before we recommend an aircraft.
  • Fewer than 60 brokers worldwide hold Premium Wyvern Broker Member status, and Air Charter Advisors is one of them.

Martha’s Vineyard Patterns We Plan Around

Martha’s Vineyard Airport is the island’s only airport, so the choice most clients are really making is the aircraft and the timing rather than the field. The main runway is 5,504 feet by 100, with an ILS approach to runway 24, and there is a second runway of 3,327 by 75 feet in fair condition. Whether a particular aircraft can use either on your date is a performance calculation the operator makes, and we confirm it with them rather than assuming it.

Aircraft with more than nine passenger seats need twenty-four hours’ prior permission, which covers most midsize and larger charter jets. Your advisor makes that call, and it is the reason we ask for your dates as early as you can give them. The same rule at Nantucket asks for two hours, so if you are booking late and either island would do, that difference usually decides it.

The tower keeps two sets of hours: six in the morning until ten at night from the middle of May to the end of October, and seven until five in the afternoon from the first of November to the middle of May. That winter close is earlier than most people expect and it is worth checking an off-season itinerary against it. There is no customs on the island, so an international trip clears on the mainland first, and Cape Cod Gateway Airport at Hyannis is the nearest customs landing rights airport.
